Porcelain Veneers vs. Invisalign®
It’s been said before in some way, but it’s worth mentioning again: most people aren’t born with the smile of their dreams. There’s nothing wrong with that, but that doesn’t means there’s nothing you can do to get a better, brighter, more beautiful smile. Some people turn to teeth whitening, some to dental implants, but when it comes to correcting crooked teeth, two of the best options out there are porcelain veneers and Invisalign®. We have used both to enhance the smile of many patients at our Memphis cosmetic dentistry practice. We’d like to take this opportunity right now to look at both options and determine which might be best for you.
Porcelain veneers are a great way for you to straighten your teeth if they are slightly misaligned. The porcelain veneers are these thin shells of a special dental ceramic that are affixed to the front facing parts of your teeth. Not only can porcelain veneers deal with slightly crooked teeth, but they can also address issues with major tooth discoloration and minor chips and cracks.
Memphis Invisalign® is another great option to consider for straightening your teeth. Many people consider them clear braces, and in a way, they are just that. During the Invisalign® treatment, a patient is given a clear plastic aligner that is worn at all times save for when the patient is eating or drinking. This clear plastic aligner is custom designed to help gradually shift the position of the teeth. After two weeks, the patient is given another aligner that helps with the gradual alignment of the teeth.
Determining the right treatment option for you will be determined by the severity of your tooth misalignment. Slightly crooked teeth may be best addressed with porcelain veneers. More sever tooth misalignment will be best addressed with Invisalign®. In cases of severely crooked teeth, however, traditional braces will be best for you and your needs.
