Sedation Dentistry

At Germantown Dental Group, we offer sedation dentistry as an option for those patents who are fearful or anxious and those that want to relax during their dental treatment.

DIANE: Sedation dentistry is a great option that we offer at Germantown Dental Group, especially for those patients that are fearful or anxious, and even those that want to relax during a long dental appointment. Our doctors are all trained in sedation dentistry, and are certified through the State of Tennessee. We start out in the conference room and discuss your treatment plan, and then we prepare for that sedation appointment. We’ll send you home with some medication to take the night before, and you’ll have a very peaceful, restful sleep, and then an hour before your appointment, you’ll have some more medication to take. You’ll come into the office, and you’ll feel very relaxed and very happy, and you’ll be ready for your appointment. If you’re not, we have medication here at the office that we will give you along the way to help you to get to that happy place. I’ve actually experienced it myself, when I had a full mouth restoration done about three or four years ago, so I know from a personal standpoint that it was a very nice way to have dentistry done. Once we’re finished, your companion will need to pick you up and take you home, just as they brought you here, and they’ll need to stay with you that afternoon, and until you recover from your sedation. And once you recover from your sedation, it’s usually six or eight hours later. You’re awake, you have no residual side effects from it at all, no discomfort, and you’re able to look right into that mirror and smile at a beautiful smile that’s coming right back at you, and you’re just so thrilled, and you’ll have all the compliments of all your friends and family.
